Linksys routers offer several benefits over the competition. They have been increasingly used across households and commercial spaces in the US. If you have shifted to a new Linksys WiFi router, learning ways to ensure seamless internet connectivity becomes important. This blog will walk you through the steps to connect a Linksys router to WiFi in easy steps.
Connecting your devices
- To start with, you can connect your Linksys router to the MODEM using an ethernet cable. Plug one end of the cable into the LAN port on the MODEM and the other end into the WAN port on the main router. Also, plug the main DSL line into the MODEM device.
- Now, plug the main power cable into the DC-IN port on your Linksys router and turn on the power supply.
- Allow some time for the router to boot up. Notice the status lights on your router to show their respective status.
- Once the router is ready, you can log in to the linksys router for network settings.
Before you log in, you’ll need to connect your computer/smartphone to the Linksys router network. You can do that using a wired or wireless connection.
Wired Connection for Connect Linksys Router to WiFi
- Connect an ethernet cable to your Linksys router and plug its other end into the LAN port on your computer.
- Once you see a light on the LAN LED of your router, it means your router is connected to the computer.
- Ensure that your computer is connected to the network by checking the network status from the taskbar at the bottom.
- If you see the status as connected, you can proceed with the login process.
Wireless Connection
- Ensure that the wireless function is enabled on your Linksys router. Launch the Wireless Network settings on your computer.
- Look for the wireless network SSID of your router and click on it to connect to it.
- Once connect , you will see the wireless icon on the taskbar at the bottom. You will also see a light on the WLAN LED of your router.
Linksys Router Login
- Launch a web browser on your connected computer/device. Type in the default web address myrouter.local into the address bar at the top.
- Press Enter and you will be direct to the router login page online.
- In the username and password fields, you can type in the default admin credentials. Type admin in the username and leave the password field blank. Press Enter or click on the Login button.
- You will now be login to the router setup wizard online.
Connecting Linksys Router to WiFi
The Linksys setup wizard will now scan for your WiFi connection. This is an automatic process and can take up to 2 minutes. In case you have a PPPoE connection, you will be require to type in the username and password provide by your ISP and then proceed with the next step.
- Once the network connection type is identifiy, the router setup wizard will direct you to the network configuration window.
- Edit the network SSIDs for your 2.4GHz and 5GHz network bands.
- Secure them using a strong password and also select a network encryption protocol for both.
- Save the same and you will be direct to the device admin setup window.
- Set a default username and password to access the device setup wizard online and then save the same.
- The final setup screen will show you the summary of the network settings you have just configured. Close the screen once the setup is complete.
The Linksys router is now connect to WiFi and you can proceed with connecting your wireless devices and computer to the network.
